  • Call for artists: The Art of Healing

    NoMAA, in collaboration with NY–Presbyterian – The Allen Hospital, is seeking submissions for NoMAA’s next exhibition entitled “The Art of Healing”. This exhibition will present work by uptown artists who are exploring the theme of healing, whether figuratively, conceptually, literally, or abstractly. Submission deadline: 26 September 2017.

  • Call for artists: The New Bench – Examining the bench as a social construct

    The New Bench is a series of public art projects that challenge our ideas around parks, communal places and how we co-exist within these spaces. Artists are invited to conceptualize a park bench; challenge how the bench encourages or discourages conversation and interaction; attempt to re-invent the bench to be more inclusive in respect to age, size, and abilities; investigate the very definition(s) of “bench” and how that plays a role in our perception and positioning of the bench within various cultures; and/or explore how a bench affects access or cross-generational exchanges. Submission deadline: 25 July 2017.

    Planning is underway for the 2017 Uptown Arts Stroll in Washington Heights–Inwood and West Harlem, and the Northern Manhattan Arts Alliance (NoMAA) is proud to announce a call for submissions for the annual poster contest. The 2017 honorarium is $1,000 to the winning artist. Deadline for submissions: 24 February 2017.
