Call for artists: Whimsical Winter Wonder…

Exhibition location: Poe Park Visitor Center

Deadline for submissions: 1 November 2016, 11pm

Eligibility: This call for submission is open to all residents of the U.S. and its Territories 18 years of age or older. This is a juried exhibition for artists working in all traditional and non-traditional 2D and 3D media, including film/video, photography. All artwork must be original in concept, design and execution. Note: Crafts, kit work or reproductions after original work in other media (such as giclee or photographs), unless used as part of a mixed media work, will not be considered.

Judging: Entries that differ significantly from their digital images may be rejected. Decision of the curators is final.

Submissions: Only original works may be submitted. They must be in a .jpg file format, online or by mailed CD only. No slides, photographs, DVDs, CDs will be returned. Work may be submitted in one or multiple media.

Directions for submission via mail

  1. Print out and complete the entry form.
  2. Put your images on a CD (Up to 3 images)
  3. All images must be .jpg files, and cannot use characters other than a period preceding jpg in the file name. File names may not include special characters: ‘ ” ; : { } | \ /or any of the characters found above the numbers (@, #, *, etc) – except the underscore and dash.
  4. Submit your images as JPG, TIF, or PNG files not greater than 2MB. File Size: largest dimension should be 1280 pixels in their longest side.
  5. Orientation: Landscape or portrait.
  6. Each image must correspond to entries listed on entry form. Medium, size and price must be entered.
  7. Mail the entry form and CD to Poe Park Visitor Center, 2640 Grand Concourse, Bronx, NY 10458
  8. All entries must be postmarked by 1 November 2016, 11pm. Entries received after that time will not be considered.
  9. CDs will not be returned.

ACCEPTANCE: Notification of acceptance of work will be made via e-mail by 19 November 2016.

Requirements for accepted work

  1. Maximum Size: 24″ x 36″ for framed work. 30″w x 15″h x 9″d for 3D work
  2. Where appropriate and at the discretion of Poe Park Visitor Center, all work must be suitably framed to a professional standard. No clip frames or taped edges. All framed conventional work must use Plexiglas, except hand-delivered work less than 24″ x 30″. Canvases must have neat gallery wrapped edges.
  3. Work must be wired and ready for hanging. No ceiling mounts or special installation requirements.
  4. Sculptors must agree to use the display provided by Poe Park Visitor Center
  5. A label must be affixed to the back of the work that indicates which end is the top and includes the following: Artist Name, Title, Medium, Dimensions, and Price. This information must correspond with the Accepted image as listed on Notification form. No artwork may be substituted.
  6. Works may be for sale, but the transaction is to be done through the artist, not through the Poe Park Visitor Center Gallery. If for sale, mark it and leave your contact information.
  7. Work may not be withdrawn, nor sales shipped, before the end of the exhibit.

Delivery of accepted work

Work must be hand delivered to our location by the artist or their agent. We are not able to accept UPS, Fedex or USPS delivery drop-offs.
