Warlé: A Multimedia Event Exploring LGBTQ+ Caregiving and Community
Using storytelling, archival documents, photography and artifacts, Warlé is a dance-theater performance that conjures the lives of long-lost gay relatives – who were partners in life and in business for 58 years – and opens a conversation about care for LGBTQ+ elders. An introductory queer tango class follows the performance and Q&A. Concept and story by Andrew Ingall. Choreography by Walter Perez. Costume design by Ethan Gekow. Featuring tango performances by Mariana Parma, Walter Perez, and Leonardo Sardella.
Co-hosted by Fort Tryon Jewish Center, Fort Washington Collegiate Church, and Friends of Argentine Tango
Warlé is made possible in part with funds from UMEZ Arts Engagement, a regrant program supported by Upper Manhattan Empowerment Zone Development Corporation (UMEZ) and administered by LMCC.
