Special Thanks to Joanna Castro

It is with a mix of sadness and gratitude that NoMAA’s Board of Directors announce Joanna E. Castro’s departure as Executive Director.  Since 2012, Joanna has a played a critical role in the development and success of the organization, and while we will miss her and her leadership, we wish her the best of luck in her new endeavors.  We are also pleased to announce that while she will no longer serve as ED, she will continue to be a part of the NoMAA family as a consultant on special projects.

We thank her for her three and half years of dedicated service ad ED, which include many accomplishments such as:

  • Launching The Allen Pavilion of New York Presbyterian Hospital exhibitions
  • Developing important panel discussions such as the LGBTQ Panel Program coinciding with Stonewall 50 as well as one convened on the anniversary of Hurricane Maria
  • Partnering with locally elected officials, government agencies, economic development corporations around the importance of supporting initiatives to help uptown artists and their work in the community
  • Expanding the Uptown Arts Stroll/Paseo de las Artes, increasing the number of cultural events to over 300
