The Face of Justice: Amplifying Women Artists of West Harlem

The Kota Alliance (Kota) is hosting a month-long visual art exhibit centered on women’s identity and social justice, and showcasing West Harlem-based women artists. The exhibition will affirm the diverse experiences of the women of West Harlem. As Harlem has grown, distinct identities have emerged along geographic lines. West Harlem celebrates a rich cultural diversity of both longtime residents and immigrants from Latin America, Asia, and the Middle East. Our goal is to provide a platform for focused discussions on the intersection of racial justice and gender equity in an effort to heighten awareness and bring about healing.

We invite artists whose work corresponds to the theme of the exhibition to submit an application on Google Forms, which can be found  in the link below. Up to 10 artists will be selected to participate in the exhibition based on the quality of their individual work, as well as on its interaction with the artwork of the other artists in the show. All artists chosen to exhibit will receive a $250 stipend.
