Uptown at 7pm
“Uptown at 7 PM” is a musical portrait of the nightly 7pm applause for essential workers that took place in Spring 2020.
Leadlights Ensemble will present an opening screening of “Uptown at 7pm” in an event celebrating hospital and essential workers on Thursday, March 16, 2023 at the Roy and Diana Vagelos Education Center (104 Haven Avenue, New York, NY), Room 401.
A video compilation featuring the piece “7 PM – Audubon & 171st” by composer Evelyn Petcher Brandes, performed by the Washington Heights based Leadlights Ensemble, serves as a tribute to the community’s resilience during the pandemic. The music video – shot on location in Washington Heights – features scenes of both the 7pm applause and Leadlights Ensemble performing the piece “7 PM.”
The event will feature a performance and music video screening, accompanied by remarks and dessert.
It is sponsored by Leadlights, the Northern Manhattan Arts Alliance, and NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center.
Tickets are free and open to the public.
