Sugar Hill Children’s Museum Author & Storytelling Festival

Join us for our Storytelling & author Festival in partnership with Word Up Community Bookshop. Freedom Tales: A Storytelling Festival inspired by the Works of Faith Ringgold. Join us as we explore themes of justice, freedom, activism and art through the lens of storytelling! The museum’s current exhibitions focusing on the work of artist, author and activist Faith Ringgold are the backdrop for this 3 day event that includes interactive storytelling, musical interludes, author appearances and hands on art activities all weekend long.

  • 11:00am Michael Warren reads A Beard Like My Dad
  • 11:30 am Nina Crews reads Not Done Yet: Shirley Chisholm’s Fight For Change
  • 12:30pm Storyteller Rachael Harrington invites you to her story circle to learn how to tell a tale and collaborate on a group storytelling activity.
  • 1:30pm Joshua Desjardins reads The Tale of Two Princes
  • 2:00pm Zenda Walker reads Zara’s Wash Day
