Opening Reception – West Harlem Arts EMERGENCY 2023 Community Arts Banner Exhibition

Please join us for the Opening Reception of West Harlem Arts EMERGENCY 2023 Exhibition at The Children’s Art Carnival Sunday, June 11th at 2:00pm.

The West Harlem Arts Collaborative 2023 Exhibition brought together a cohort of 6 artists to collaborate with 7 local community organizations in the creation of a banner design that explores the theme of, EMERGENCY. Which is derived from all of the never ending series of emergent global crises we find ourselves in at this time. From Covid to Civil Unrest, Mass Shootings, and Women’s rights violations.Artists and their organizational partners worked together to speak to these “emergencies” and offer a visual response.

Outdoor Exhibition Dates: June 3rd – August 15th

Gallery Hours: Saturday & Sunday 12:00 – 5:00pm

ABOUT WEST HARLEM ARTS:

West Harlem Arts is a collaborative effort between The Children’s Art Carnival and Centro Civico Cultural Dominicano as well as an online platform created to promote and support the collaborations between community arts organizations and celebrate the diversity of cultural programming available to the West Harlem community and its surrounding neighborhoods. West Harlem Arts recognizes that collaborations and partnerships are key to the cultivation and development of arts organizations and centers itself as a meeting place for all members of the community to come together and identify, develop and achieve common goals around serving the community.

WEST HARLEM ARTS EMERGENCY 2023 is made possible with funding from West Harlem Development Corporation, the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council, the Ruth Foundation for The Arts and donations from New York Film Academy and Hamilton Heights community members. The exhibition is presented by The Children’s Art Carnival.
