Melting Pot Jazz
Jazz WaHi’s Melting Pot Jazz is an annual series of five free, family-friendly concerts in June celebrating immigrants’ influence on American jazz. Concerts take place on the lawn at St. Frances Cabrini Shrine in Washington Heights, or indoors if it rains.
This week we feature The Helio Alves Quartet (Brazil)
Each week features an ensemble blending jazz with music from different world cultures. Past concerts have explored African, Cuban, Peruvian, Mexican, Dominican, Puerto Rican, Balkan, Slavic, Indian, Israeli, Yiddish, Middle Eastern, and Japanese influences on the jazz idiom.
Bring picnics, blankets, chairs, and the whole family.
