With the support of a grant from the Northern Manhattan Arts Alliance, Moongate Productions will present a workshop presentation of “A Little More Blue”, a solo play with music written and performed by Christine Toy Johnson on Friday, February 3, 2023 at 6:30 pm in Washington Heights. Bruce Johnson directs. The play includes original guitar music written and performed by Lisa Liu and songs by Johnson and Bobby Cronin, among others. “A Little More Blue” was the 2022 winner of the inaugural Alvin Epstein Memorial Prize for Solo Performance and tells the story of an Asian American woman who discovers, upon her father’s recent passing, how his immigrant journey of intrepid determination has inspired her to keep repainting the big picture of her life through fighting for justice in the arts. A shorter audio version of the play was co-produced by Abingdon Theatre Company with support from the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council last June.
