2021 Higher Ground Festival presents “Flutey Loops” live streaming & at Buunni Coffee (limited seating)
Zara Lawler, Neil Rolnick
Flutey Loops is a re-working of composer Neil Rolnick’s piece Vocal Chords for flute. The piece is a structured improvisation which presents the flutist with a series of musical phrases to improvise off of and a series of digital processing textures for the laptop performer to coordinate with the flutist. With both performers on stage, interacting in real time, as in “traditional” chamber music. the performance combines electronic music with improvisational and classical techniques.
Higher Ground Festival brings Northern Manhattan artists together to network and create interdisciplinary collaborations that are presented free to the community. This will be HGF’s 6th year as a notable arts festival in the upper Manhattan community.
