Traditional Mexica Aztec Dance

Danza mexica, is an indigenous tradition of Mexico based on the cultural legacy of the Chichimeca and Otomi warrior tribes. This workshop offers an introduction to danza mexica tradition and choreography.

In this workshop you will learn to:

  • Honor the earth and ancestors while building endurance.
  • Increase flow in sync with the four directions.
  • Align movements with natural elements.
  • Create dynamic collective energy.

These movements are an expression of indigenous scientific thought concerning all movements in the cosmos and were developed over hundreds of years. Today it is also a way of life. Francisco (Ceyaotl) Marin has been a danzante for many years. He also leads in the traditions of Temazcalli and Sundance.  If you want to engage in a dynamic way of moving while learning about this indigenous culture then this workshop is for you! All proceeds of this workshop will go towards our Sundance on Rose Bud reservation.
