Stan Michels Memorial Jazz Concert

You are invited to join the Michels family, the Fort Tryon Park Trust, and NYC Parks for this in-person performance with local jazz impresarios Rudel Drears, Marjorie Eliot, and their ensemble. We hope you can be with us to remember Stan on the anniversary of his passing and to celebrate his incredible impact on the uptown community.

Stan Michels represented northern Manhattan in the City Council for 24 years. Among his many achievements, he was a steadfast advocate for parks, allocating over $50 million for improvements in Washington Heights, Inwood, and Harlem, including nearly every playground in his district. The Stan Michels Promenade was named in his honor shortly before he passed away on August 1, 2008.

The concert will be held at a location in Fort Tryon Park, to be determined by social distancing concerns. In the event of rain, we will host the concert indoors at The Cornerstone Church, 178 Bennett Avenue.

The event is finished.
