WHAT IS THE CONTINUUM?

The Continuum is an 8-week cultural program rooted in Harlem, offering African cultural classes that bring people together through movement, language, creativity, and shared experiences.

It brings together:

  • African Americans who have traveled to Africa
  • African Americans preparing for future journeys
  • Artists, elders, parents, educators, and culture-keepers

No passport required. No DNA test required. Just openness.

WHAT YOU’LL EXPERIENCE

✨ African-inspired movement (Afrobeats, Amapiano, West African styles)

✨ Traditional African dance (including Yoruba based Sango cultural movements)

✨ Hands-on arts & crafts inspired by African creativity

✨ Learn Yoruba language and everyday cultural expressions

✨ African music, rhythm, and cultural appreciation

✨ Shared travel conversations and reflections on Africa

✨ Pathways and inspiration for future travel to Africa

Each session offers space to learn, move, create, connect, and grow through culture.

African Beadwork: Stress-Free Expression

Create simple bead pieces while exploring the beauty and meaning of adornment across African traditions in a relaxed, creative setting.

Sunday, April 19 | 3:00–5:30 PM

Thunder Rhythms: Sango Dance & Learn Yoruba Language classes

Part 1: Thunder & Rhythms: Sango Dance

Step into the energy of Sango through authentic Yoruba dance, blending powerful movement with storytelling and cultural insight. Wear red, burgundy, or purple.

Part 2: Learn Yoruba Language

Learn practical Yoruba greetings, expressions, and cultural meanings in an engaging beginner-friendly setting.

Duration: 8 Weeks (March 27 – May 22, 2026)

Fridays: 6:00 PM – 7:30 PM, Sundays: 3:00 PM – 5:30 PM

Cohort Size: Limited (25–30 participants)

Format: In-person community sessions
