DESCRIPTION:Come join us to celebrate the life and works of Juan and Carmen, heroes of our time, with poetry readings, dance , song, and artmaking!\n(Español abajo)\nThis is a bilingual celebration, with poetry, prose, art, music, and dance contributed by those gathering (please bring your own contribution!), in honor of two illustrious leaders of the Dominican Republic of the fight against the dictator Rafael Trujillo. Prof. Juan Bosch (1909-2001), also known as El Profesor(the Teacher), was a Dominican politician, historian, writer, essayist, educator, and the first democratically elected president of the Dominican Republic. Carmen Quidiello Castillo (1915-2020), his wife, is less famous but was an essayist, playwright and theater practitioner; some of her best known works were the play “La eterna Eva y el Insoportable Adán” (The Eternal Eve and the Unbearable Adam) and a collection of essays entitled “Pajaritas de Papel” (Paper Birds).\nEsta es una celebración bilingüe, con poesía, prosa, arte, música y danza aportados por los asistentes (¡por favor traiga su propia contribución!), en honor a dos ilustres líderes de la República Dominicana, y de la lucha contra el dictador Rafael Trujillo. Prof. Juan Bosch (1909-2001), también conocido como El Profesor, fue un político, historiador, escritor, ensayista, educador dominicano y el primer presidente de la República Dominicana elegido democráticamente. Carmen Quidiello Castillo (1915-2020), su esposa, es menos famosa pero fue ensayista, dramaturga y practicante del teatro; algunas de sus obras más conocidas fueron la obra “La eterna Eva y el Insoportable Adán” y una colección de ensayos titulada “Pajaritas de Papel”.\n
