Dear artists and members of the NoMAA community,

NoMAA and the uptown arts community is deeply saddened by the passing of our beloved friend and colleague Altagracia Dilone Levat. Our thoughts are with her family and closed ones at this moment of trial. We are confident that the memories of her generous and blissful life will offer them strength and peace. We will always remember Altagracia!

As you know, the 2014 Uptown Arts Stroll is coming soon! NoMAA is excited and pleased to announce that this year’s honorees are Annette Aguilar, drummer, musician, band leader and educator; Rene de los Santos, visual artist and arts activist; Sky Pape, internationally renowned visual artist and “an ardent nature-nerd, culture-hound, and pom-pom waver for creative folks of all stripes”; and Jannifer Wilson, writer and owner of Sisters Uptown Bookstore. These honorees exemplify the amazing talent and professional excellence of our diverse arts hub. We are proud of their achievements! Join us to celebrate them at the Arts Stroll kick off celebration on Thursday, May 29th, at Highbridge Park. For more information please visit

Lastly, many thanks to Martin Collins for his generous and invaluable contribution as the volunteer Arts Stroll organizer this year! We are very lucky to have you with us Marty, gracias!

Have a peaceful Passover and Easter,

Sandra A. García-Betancourt
