Open Call- Haven Plaza public art $7000 award

Columbia University Irving Medical Center in partnership with NoMAA (Northern Manhattan Arts Alliance) invites artists to submit proposals that creatively address ways to cover 26 bollards (cement blocks 57”L x 30”H x 22”W) and the immediate walkways located at two entrances of Haven Plaza. The design must take into consideration the proximity to the Columbia Medical Center Nursery School as well as reflect the diversity of the uptown community.

One artist or team will be selected. Proposals should include a detailed budget that covers artist fees and materials. Total award will be $7,000 for the selected proposal. Artwork must be completed by September 26, 2019. The official unveiling of the project will take place during the Haven Plaza Health Fair on September 28. We invite the selected artist to lead an artmaking workshop.

NYC based artists are eligible to apply.
Northern Manhattan artists strongly encouraged to submit proposals.

TIMELINE

  • Deadline: September 8, 2019, midnight.
  • Notification: week of September 9, 2019.
  • Install: weeks of September 16 and 23 and fully completed by Thursday, September 26, 2019.
  • Official unveiling: September 28, 2019 Noon until 5:30pm, as part of the annual Health Fair.
