Northern Manhattan Arts Alliance announces new Acting Executive Director

The Northern Manhattan Arts Alliance (NoMAA) announces the hiring of Ms. Joanna E. Castro as Acting Executive Director effective immediately.

Ms. Castro is a bilingual (English-Spanish) arts administrator with a B.A. in Spanish and International Studies from Dickinson College (Carlisle, PA) and a M.A. in Arts and Cultural Management from Universidad Carlos III (Madrid, Spain). She was the Program Director at NoMAA (2012–2014) and has been an Inwood resident since early 2013.

Ms. Castro will continue spearheading NoMAA’s programming, including the Women in the Heights – Transitions exhibit and its upcoming artist talk and Ask a Professional Workshop (March 23, 6–8 p.m.) in partnership with the Broadway Housing Communities and the Sugar Hill Children’s Museum of Art and Storytelling as well as the 13th edition of the Uptown Arts Stroll (June 2016) and other arts and community development programs.

Ms. Castro is thrilled to continue working and strengthening ties between the community and artists in Northern Manhattan. She is very happy to be living and working in the city where she was born.
