Workshop: Proposal writing for individual artists

Workshop dates: Wed 6 and 20 March 2013. This two-part workshop will cover how to make your grant proposal a compelling case for support.

Dates: Wednesdays 6 and 20 March 2013, 6–8 p.m.

This two-part workshop will cover how to make your grant proposal a compelling case for support. Gather information on researching potential funders, contacting program officers, identifying your needs in a language that is heard and understood, preparing and understanding your budget, and presenting supplemental material. In-session and take-home writing exercises will provide practical experience; completed take-home assignments will be reviewed in a mock-panel format during the second session.

Program limited to 14 participants on a first-come, first-served basis. Artists must commit to attending both sessions.

Workshop dates: Wed 10 and 17 April 2013. A two-part interactive workshop for visual artists resulting in a hard-copy portfolio for each participant to present their work.

A two-part interactive workshop for visual artists resulting in a hard-copy portfolio for each participant to present their work. Workshop includes an introduction to the different kinds of artists’ portfolios, visual and written components (such as images, resume statement, and press), cost/technical issues, presentation, and digital options. Pre-workshop preparation is required and participant artists will be required to complete an assignment (homework).

Space is limited to 10 artists. Artists must commit to attending both sessions.

Workshop date: Wed 8 May 2013. Most musicians/artists use Facebook or Twitter to communicate with friends, but using these social media tools for promotion requires a different skill set.
