The Northern Manhattan Arts Alliance announces the 2013 cycle of re-grants for artists and arts/cultural organizations in the neighborhoods of Washington Heights and Inwood.

The Northern Manhattan Arts Alliance announces the 2013 cycle of re-grants for artists and arts/cultural organizations in the neighborhoods of Washington Heights and Inwood. This re-grant is made possible with the support of the JPMorgan Chase Foundation and the Upper Manhattan Empowerment Zone Development Corporation (UMEZ).

NoMAA Creative Support for Artists
NoMAA provides re-grants ranging from $500 to $2,000 to individual artists to support new works in literary, media, performing/interpretive, and visual arts.

NoMAA General Operating Support for Arts/Cultural Organizations
NoMAA provides re-grants ranging from $1,000 to $5,000 to arts/cultural organizations to support general operating costs. Download application (PDF, 459KB).

Application Deadline: Monday 19 November 2012, by 5 p.m.
Complete applications must be received by mail or hand delivery. This is not a postmark deadline.

Make a contribution!

As a thank you for your donation to the 5th Anniversary Fund, NoMAA will incorporate your name into a new, original mural to be located at our office’s entrance. The 5th Anniversary Mural will be revealed by June 2013 and will remain on display for at least one year. All visitors to our offices for appointments, Gallery openings and visits, and other events will be able to view a graphic representation of the community spirit that makes Washington Heights/Inwood a unique and vibrant neighborhood. You can be represented on our mural for a donation of $25 for members or $50 for non-members. Make a donation now!

Workshop – Introduction to Printmaking

In this workshop artists from the Dominican York Proyecto GRAFICA (DYPG) will introduce the medium of printmaking through an introduction and demonstration of print techniques.

In this workshop artists from the Dominican York Proyecto GRAFICA (DYPG) will introduce the medium of printmaking through an introduction and demonstration of print techniques. Artists will guide participants in the creation of a print project combining relief (in the form of linocut, foam and rubber stamp) and screen-printing. This workshop is a basic introduction to printmaking, no experience is necessary.

This workshop is part of the Dominican York Proyecto GRAFICA exhibition at the NoMAA Gallery.

Date: Saturday 27 October 2012, 1–4 p.m.
Location: The Cornerstone Center, 1st floor, 178 Bennett Avenue at 189th Street, New York, NY 10040.

Participants are asked to bring a sketch size to 4 x 6 inches (please bring the original and a photocopy of the drawing if possible). All other materials are included.

Dominican York Proyecto GRAFICA is a printmaking collective of 12 artists of Dominican descent who live and work in and around New York City. Artists of the collective are: Carlos Almonte, Pepe Coronado, René de los Santos, iliana emilia garcía, Reynaldo García Pantaleón, Scherezade García, Alex Guerrero, Luanda Lozano, Miguel Luciano, Yunior Chiqui Mendoza, Moses Ros-Suárez, and Rider Ureña.
